Meeting Commenced:  3:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by President Rob Gartlan at 3:00 pm with 34 members present.

The following committee reports were made:

 

1.                  Court Maintenance: Butch Kleen - changed the battery in the clocks.

 

2.                  Paddles & Balls:  Dave Johnson – Everything is going well.

 

3.                  Clinics:  Scott Cole – Everything went well with the previous clinics.  Good instruction and good participation.

 

4.                  Tournaments: Dave Baer – There will be no tournament in April.  There may be something during the summer months.

 

5.                  Ladder:  Mel Langer – Ladders will change to 8 am on May 5th and then to 7 am on June 2nd.

 

TREASURER’S REPORT:

 

Report was reviewed and approved by the membership

 

SECRETARY’S REPORT:

 

The membership approved last month’s Secretary Report.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

 

1.                  Thanks to the previous board and chair people for the last 15 months of service.

 

2.                  Thanks to all for a successful March Tournament.

 

3.                  Club Picnic on Sunday April 27th at the Pavilion by Dillon’s.

 

4.                  The Sun City visit on Friday April 11th  was cancelled.  Instead a round robin was held for volunteers who signed up to play with the Sun City guest on that day.

 

5.                  All the vendors who set up table for the ASO have made donations to the club.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

1.                  The Sunday night mixer will change to 6pm on April 13th.

 

2.                  Courts 1 – 8 will be closed April 21st from 12 – 6 pm for cleaning; there will be no A ladder and no C skill-level drop-in.

 

3.                  Courts 9-12 will be closed April 23rd for cleaning; there will be no C ladder and no A skill-level drop-in.

 

4.                  Bob Lanius will be the commissioner for the ASO in 2009.  The tournament might be held at the City of Surprise courts.  We have reserved a room in the event that the SCG Pickleball Club will be hosting the banquet party for the ASO.

 

5.                  The Pickleball pavilion plans are with the City of Surprise for approval.

 

DISCUSSION

 

1.                  A member inquired as to whether the wind screens can be put up during the summer months.  There was discussion and the suggestion was taken under advisement.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30 pm.
