1ST ANNUAL TOURNAMENT

(Triple Drop Flight)

Start time is 7:00am SHARP!!!

 

·         This Tournament is open only to Sun City Grand Pickleball Club members whose membership is in “good standing” – meaning dues are paid and the member is not delinquent.

·         The goal of this Tournament is to have FUN and for participants to gain “tournament-like” experience under “tournament-like” conditions.

·         All levels of players are invited to participate.

·         This is planned as a one-day TournamentNo entry fee & no medals or prizes will be awarded.

·        Registration is now closed @ 80 players (as of March 31st).  If you would like to be on the Alternate list -- please send an email to 49ford@cox.net and we will maintain a "first-come, first-served" alternate list based on the date & time of your email to "The Commish".  If we get any cancellations due to emergencies or unforeseen issues, we will turn to the alternate list to fill the empty slots.

·         Teams will be determined by a “Random Drawing” on Friday, April 9th.  Names will be put in a “hat” & teams will be drawn @ the courts during Drop-In @ 10:00am – one week prior to the Tournament.

o        Club Members are invited to witness the drawing of the teams

o        Board Members, Dick Wagner & Jean Davis will draw the names

o        Communications Chair, Kay Ford will write down the teams as names are drawn

o        Teams will be published on the bulletin board & on the website on April 10th

·         No team will have 2 “A” players.  Should the first name of a team be drawn & that is an “A” player, then the second name drawn must be a “non-A” player.  Should a second “A” player’s name be drawn, the name will be put back into the hat until a “non-A” player’s name is drawn.  There are no other restrictions on teams.

·         “Triple Drop Flight” is a type of Tournament whereby every team is guaranteed three (3) matches.  A “Match” is 3 games to 11 points (don’t have to win by 2). 

·         There are Three (3) Flights.  For purposes of this Tournament – the Flights will have the following names:

o        First Flight

o        Second Flight

o        Third Flight

·         All teams start playing in the “First Flight”.  The teams winning 2 of the 3 games advances on the “First Flight”.  The losing team drops to the “Second Flight” & again plays a match.  The winning teams advance on the “Second Flight” & the losing team drops to the “Third Flight” & again plays a match.

·         There will be Referees & Line Judges for all 3 final matches.  There will be Referees for the Semi-Finals, no Line Judges.

·         The Pickleball Club will provide refreshments that will be determined.
