Team Level Verification. Chair gets player/team registration details from the Club Website. Committee verifies Team Levels based on website registration and makes changes as the committee sees fit. Teams play at "highest" player's level. This committee has final say on Team Levels.

Team Seeding. After Team Levels are verified by that Committee, then the "Team Seeding" Committee will "seed" the top 4 teams in each level (A, B, C & Novice) and in each category (men's, women's, mixed). Seeding will be - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in team's level of ability. This information is provided to the tournament director to create the Bracket Sheets.

Safety. Provides on-site safety information and support. Group recognized with armbands. Committee chair & members must have emergency training and experience. Chair may give safety tips to all players at the start of the tournament each day.

Referees. Provides experienced "referees" for the medal matches of each category. Chair must be trained & very experienced in refereeing. Committee members must have completed a training course sponsored by the Grand PB Club and have some refereeing experience.

Line Judging. Provides "line judges" for the medal matches of each category. Each game requires 4 line judges. More than one medal match might be played at one time. Chair must have experience in "line judging." Committee communicates to the referee prior to each of the medal matches who the line judges are.

Food Service. Provides beverages and lunch for both players and volunteers for all days of the tournament. Committee plans, purchases and stores food appropriately. Club reimburses purchases with original receipts.

Donations. Seeks out either $$ or food/water donations from local businesses. Provides info to communications committee so that any sponsors can be recognized both during the tournament and in any media.

Communications. Committee members will contact local newspapers - Surprise Today Independent, Surprise Republic, Grand Times, and Channel 22 providing match information.
Match Maker & Scorekeeping. Chair sets up each match, assigns courts, keeps matches moving through the brackets, announces matches & courts. Committee members record winners, move winning teams through brackets correctly and updates bracket sheets throughout the tournament. Committee also provides to players/referees "filled out" match score sheets, clipboards and pens.

Registration/Cashier. Chair gets final player roster from the tournament director and sets up registration sheets. Committee members register players each day of the tournament and collect any unpaid fees and waivers. Committee members provide "Match Maker" with information regarding "no-shows" or "no-pays" so that those players are deleted from the Players Brackets. Only 2 volunteers needed each day.

Water/Liquids/Ice/Banana's. Provides ice, water and bananas for both players & volunteers for each day of the tournament. Club reimburses purchases with original receipts. Committee plans, purchases, stores and distributes all water during tournament days. Note: A separate committee handles food.

Medals. Chair designs and orders medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in each level/category (5.0; 4.5; 4.0; 3.5; 3.0; 2.5). Medals for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in all levels/categories will be distributed after the matches are completed. Club reimburses purchases with original receipts.

Photography. Takes digital photos (action & posed) of both players and volunteers each day of the tournament. Ensures that posed photos of all medal winners at each level in each category are taken. Provides photos to the Committee Chair or to the Web Team for posting on Club Website. Also provides the best photos to "Communications" committee as requested for media needs.

Court Prep & Balls. Committee members clean all courts & fill ball containers prior to tournament matches each day. Chair works with the Ball Person (Cheri Swinehart) to get new balls for first day of tournament. Insures nets are 34” in the center and 36” at the post. On first day of tournament, all courtside chairs/benches are removed and arranged outside the courts for spectators. Puts up EZ-up canopy/shelters, gets tables and chairs for registration and matchmaker/scorekeepers. Also arranges for extra garbage from maintenance. Committee raises appropriate side screens for viewing. After tournament, committee returns court to normal use (screen, chairs, balls, etc).
